Compare earlier Q05 PHEV and Song Pro DM-i offers using real charging, family fit, generation, inspection and ownership support.
Keep generation and fuel-system descriptions explicit
Request original-market records, production, engine, transmission or hybrid-drive arrangement and battery package for both cars. BYD regional Song Pro material describes its own market; it cannot identify every Chinese used candidate. The Q05 identity file must establish the earlier PHEV before its specification enters the comparison. Do not substitute Song Plus records or a newer regional fuel package for the offered Song Pro. Similar exterior styling or a familiar DM-i label is not enough. Where the description is abbreviated or inconsistent, resolve it before assigning equipment value or assuming parts and fuel requirements are equivalent.
Compare the actual charged and fuel-use routine
Record regular distance, road speeds, climate and reliable charging opportunities. Use the Q05 PHEV operating guide and obtain the equivalent candidate-specific BYD evidence. Weighted test consumption does not describe every journey when charging frequency differs. Separate electric distance, fuel operation and combined range, and name the test context of any brochure claims. Do not interpret a hybrid badge as proof of negligible fuel use. A larger battery package may matter when it supports ordinary charged travel, but a realistic charging schedule is needed before the buyer can value that benefit across the ownership period.
Trial family use with the same requirements
Use the actual driver positions, child seats, passengers and luggage on both cars. The Q05 family-use file provides a method, not restraint approval for the Song Pro. Check rear access, usable loading openings and the everyday parking route. Do not compare one maximum boot figure with the other car’s occupied-seat arrangement. Climate, phone and ordinary cabin functions also matter to the task, but verify those on the actual regional vehicles. A more spacious impression can be a legitimate advantage when demonstrated; exterior dimensions or a larger display do not independently establish the required passenger and luggage fit.
Inspect engine, battery and whole-vehicle condition
Define qualified scopes for structure, water history, charging, traction battery, engine-side maintenance, chassis and essential electronics. The Q05 PHEV inspection guide needs a separate equivalent BYD assessment. Dashboard range and smooth idling are not complete energy-system evidence. Investigate warnings, replacement components and reported repairs with their limitations. Do not compare a documented Q05 with an uninspected Song Pro as though generation and price were the only differences. Keep seller claims separate from observed findings and diagnosis. A favourable battery percentage cannot erase an unresolved engine, cooling, structural or support issue.
Obtain support and preparation answers for each system
Ask receiving workshops about exact component identification, diagnostic tools, technical information and practical parts supply. Use the Q05 service plan as its own record, not a shared schedule for both brands. Confirm warranty provider and destination eligibility independently. Normalise inspection, preparation and delivered readiness using the quote comparison file. Obtain complete estimates for defined faults instead of subtracting invented battery or gearbox costs. A manufacturer’s local presence can help only if this specification is actually supported. The better-known badge does not automatically offer a workable repair path for every imported production and regional configuration.
Select the plug-in hybrid that passes the same brief
Use the three-year cost comparison with the same distance, charging frequency, fuel prices and conservative exit scenarios. Prefer the Q05 where its identified package, condition and support offer coherent value; prefer the Song Pro where its demonstrated practical benefits justify the complete difference. Pause if either relies on unconfirmed eligibility, unclear fuel requirements or a speculative repair allowance. Preserve findings and accepted exceptions by VIN and repeat the comparison for a replacement. This is a buying framework for two real offers, not a universal reliability, economy or resale ranking between the model names.
Buyer approval checklist
Use these fields as a candidate-specific decision record. Assign each unresolved item before approving payment or shipment.
- Both original generations and systems identified
- Real charging and fuel-operation schedule
- Equal passenger and cargo trial
- Qualified engine, battery and structural evidence
- Separate parts support and delivered-cost totals

Can Song Plus information be used for a Song Pro quote?
Do not assume equivalence. Identify the offered Song Pro generation and original market, then use its own documentation and inspection.
Does a longer combined range settle the better PHEV purchase?
No. Charging frequency, fuel use, condition, support, passenger needs and the complete cost remain separate requirements.
