Model electric distance, charge-sustaining fuel use and total trip energy separately. PHEV value depends on frequent compatible charging, route length, engine use and the cost of maintaining both systems.
Separate official claims from route planning
Changan's 2023 annual report described a Qiyuan Q05 configuration with up to 125 km pure-electric range and 1,215 km combined range. Those are historical China-market product claims, not guaranteed distances for a used candidate or another test method. Preserve the original labels and never merge them with 2026 NEVO Q05 BEV data. Use the Q05 BEV versus PHEV guide to select the correct powertrain first. For planning, record battery identity, test basis and whether the quoted number belongs to the exact model year and trim.
Store source, access date, market and test label beside every official figure.
Map daily electric use and dependable charging
List normal weekday distance, longest recurring day, motorway share, elevation, seasonal temperature, passenger load and climate-control demand. Mark home, workplace and public chargers the buyer can actually access, including connector, power, price and overnight availability. A PHEV delivers its strongest electric-use case when it can recharge regularly; without that pattern it carries an engine and battery while relying more heavily on petrol. Use a minimum arrival charge rather than planning to exhaust the battery. The Q05 charging guide provides a structured connector and supply check.
Verify proposed chargers in practice; a map pin does not establish compatibility or access.
Measure electricity and petrol on separate phases
For a candidate test, record odometer, ambient temperature, starting state of charge, fuel level, route, average speed and climate setting. Track the charge-depleting phase until the strategy changes, then observe charge-sustaining operation over a meaningful distance. Record electricity added at the charger and fuel added by a repeatable fill method; dashboard figures are supporting evidence, not the whole calculation. Short tests, downhill routes and dealer-reset averages can mislead. Repeat when possible and preserve raw observations with the VIN so another reviewer can reproduce the estimate.
Retain route and refill records with the VIN instead of relying on a seller average.
Account for engine use and seasonal variation
Some owners may complete many short trips electrically, leaving the petrol system inactive for long periods. Others may begin every motorway trip with a depleted battery. Build scenarios for both patterns and include deliberate engine operation consistent with the vehicle instructions. Price petrol and electricity by tariff date, allow charging losses, and keep public charging separate from home rates. Cold weather, high speed, elevation, towing or heavy payload can reduce electric contribution and increase fuel use. Combined range does not remove the need to find fuel, charging and service support along the actual route.
Use conservative seasonal cases as well as a favourable case.
Compare PHEV with practical alternatives
Translate route results into annual electricity, fuel, charging time and service requirements. Add wallbox installation, first-year maintenance and correction items from the PHEV powertrain inspection. Compare the same passenger and luggage duty against a BEV and conventional vehicle at the same delivered and registered boundary. A PHEV may suit mixed routes with regular charging and occasional long journeys, but it is not automatically cheaper when charging is unavailable, petrol dominates, or destination support for China-market hybrid components is weak.
State annual kilometres, tariffs and service reserve so the comparison can be updated.
Record the approval decision
Approve the operating plan only when the exact Qiyuan Q05 PHEV version is identified, official figures retain their market and test labels, and the buyer’s routes are modelled with usable charging, an arrival reserve and conservative seasonal cases. Candidate evidence should separate electricity and petrol rather than relying on one reset dashboard average. Hold the decision if regular charging is only assumed, global BEV data is mixed into the PHEV estimate, or maintenance and destination support are omitted.
Retain the approval with the VIN file and reopen the review whenever the candidate, destination or commercial boundary changes.

Will a Qiyuan Q05 PHEV always travel 125 km on electricity?
No. It was a market-specific claim; actual distance depends on version, condition, temperature, speed, elevation and load.
How should PHEV fuel economy be measured?
Record charge-depleting and charge-sustaining phases separately, including electricity, fuel, route and starting charge.
Is combined range the best reason to import it?
Not alone. Charging, fuel, service, compliance, condition and ownership cost matter more.
